Alternative weather forecast from Online Weather Another good Website is at antveals web site which contains links to other very good sites. Another website containing locations and links to weather sites can be found here www.mylocalweather.org.uk I’ve now done some more work on the averages and you can now see at a glance which years the highs and lows have occured. The Met Office have also released the 1981-2010 averages so I’ve updated our data to reflect the time period and will update all 2012 data to reflect this in time. June 2015 data has now been fully uploaded. I’ve also enabled Spark.clx for Lightning detection for Mobile Phones. Install the application from here then add the following link to Sparkclx www.sheffieldweather.co.uk/spark There’s also a mobile version of lightening detection for the Andriod phone. This is called Mobile Storm which can be downloaded from Google Play Store. To use my Boltek enter the Latitude of 53.2102 and the Longitude -1.28. For the web url type in the following http://www.sheffieldweather.co.uk/spark/nexstorm_arc.dat The detector needs also to be set at custom. The authors website is here http://skywatcher.net.nz/android.htm You can follow Sheffield Weather on Twitter which is working now. The problem was with Lightning 2000 sending truncated tweets and repeating the same tweet which locked the account out.  If you wish to Donate to the upkeep please click on the Donate button.
Welcome to the Sheffield Weather Page. A site for the city of Sheffield South Yorkshire England. The family has been recording Weather since 1955 and in recent years this has passed to myself. I have a large amount of data which I have published on this website. I’m have now started to work on the data sets from 1989 so you can check the Stevenson data from that period to the present rather than from 2000. This will be a slow process though I’m afraid and will take some time.
Quick Weather Update 15/07/15  After a cool Wednesday night  Thursday looks dry with sunny spells and a more humid feel to things. Overnight into the early hours a spell of heavy rain may cross the region. Friday looks dry with sunny spells but on the cool side and very breezy for the time of year with winds gusting into the 40’s. Saturday looks dry and cool and Sunday will be slightly warmer but cloudier. . Brief Spring Roundup. Spring overall came in just below average this being due to May being a cold month which just out weighed April which was very mild. Rainfall was average again this being due to April and May being complete contrasts. May being very wet with April very dry. March showed a brief promise of mild spring during the first half of the month however a cool 2nd half brought everything back down to normal. Snow made another appearance in March although it never laid away from the highest ground. The main feature of March was the storm at the end of the month which brought plenty of rain and very strong winds of up to 62 mph. April started cold with the remnants of the stormy weather from March. This was an April fool and the rest of the Month was on the Mild side and very dry. Clear skies and dry weather pegged back night time temperatures and ground frosts were a common feature although Air frosts were absent. This meant a diurnal range of nearly 10c between day and night time average temperatures. Any promise of a warm spring was dashed by a cold May. Although Wet most of the months rain fell early and then it was a case of suppressed day time temperatures. May also failed to reach 20C for the first time for a very long time.  What’s new?  The weather station also now transmits data to http://www.pwsweather.com/obs/1963525.html We also had the hottest day ever for July since our records began in 1955 the value reached 32.4C.
