What do we have here then?
At approximately 5:30 AM this morning, our mink trap was triggered, and a notification was received via our monitoring system. After the heavy rain subsided, a routine check was carried out to investigate the cause of the activation.
Upon inspection, it was discovered that the trap had successfully contained a stoat — a different visitor from previous captures, which included a hedgehog. The stoat, although small, proved to be quite feisty and defensive, attempting to bite during handling and releasing a strong odor as a defense mechanism. Despite the challenges, the animal was carefully and safely removed from the trap.
The stoat was then released back into a designated wildlife area, ensuring it remained within its natural habitat. The trap has since been cleaned, reset, and returned to its monitoring position in line with our ongoing wildlife management and conservation efforts.
We remain committed to humane practices and the protection of local biodiversity, working to monitor and manage species populations responsibly.
