Parkeston Welfare Park Youth Football Team has been proudly serving the community since its founding in 2014 by Chairman Bill Davidson. The clubs Deputy Chair and long-time FA coach Jon Garwood. The club benefits from the leadership and expertise of the Manager, FA Coach, and Referee Jason Bearder, whose dedication and passion have been instrumental to the team’s development.This season, we’re thrilled to welcome Alfie Spratt, an accomplished FA coach with numerous accolades, to our coaching staff. Despite the challenge of losing four key players earlier in the season, the team has worked hard to rebuild and learn to play together as a cohesive unit.As we navigate our final training league season in the 9v9 format, our sights are firmly set on the 2025/26 Colchester District League. A special acknowledgment goes to Jason Bearder for his exceptional commitment and determination, which continue to inspire and drive the team forward.

Floodlights, toilets, and a five-a-side pitch make it a practical and inviting space for everyone.Focusing on fitness and team bonding during the off-season is a smart approach—it not only keeps players physically prepared but also strengthens camaraderie, which is invaluable for team dynamics.

A giant human hamster wheel is a unique and exciting piece of equipment that not only adds fun to the park but also promotes physical fitness and social interaction. Its focus on balance, teamwork, and communication makes it perfect for group workouts and encouraging people to connect while staying active. The fact that it accommodates up to three people at once adds a cooperative challenge, ensuring a dynamic and engaging experience for all ages. What a brilliant way to inspire health and community spirit!

The Community Kitchen is a wonderful hub of connection and joy! It’s fantastic to hear that the seniors were eager to return after the Christmas break, and that the team—Bill, Marion, Lynne, and Tracey—are doing such a great job creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Combining a Two course lunch, friendship, and a bit of bingo is a perfect way to bring people together.
Parkeston Tea & Chat Group
The Tea and Chat Club seems is a fantastic initiative to bring people together, especially for those who might otherwise feel isolated. Marion Kadlec is doing great at fostering such a warm and welcoming environment. It’s great to hear the group is still thriving—initiatives like this are so important for building community connections, friendships and keeping up with community activities.
Parkeston ‘Gloria’ Garden Group
Gloria Greenhouse and the disabled raised beds has been a cornerstone for The community kitchen! Lynne McGarry’s dedication and hard work in planting, growing, and maintaining such a wide variety of fresh produce are truly commendable. Having access to homegrown fruits and vegetables like potatoes, sweetcorn, lettuce, cucumbers, melons, strawberries, radishes, peppers, and onions is such a gift throughout the summer to our lunch club. It not only brings people together but also ensures nutritious and fresh meals for everyone. A big shout-out to Lynne and everyone involved in this wonderful initiative!
Aid in U continues doing incredible work for the community by repurposing, recycling and redistributing disability aids! The expansion with a new storage shed that Bill Davidson managed to secure funding is fantastic news and shows the project’s growing impact. This is a totally free service and if we can help we certainly will.

Together, our community collects, crushes, bags, and weighs cans to prevent them from ending up in landfill, all while generating income to cover welfare park insurance and open space inspections.Special thanks to Steve Day, Brian Hicks, and Bill Davidson, who dedicate their time daily to crush these cans. Your hard work does not go unnoticed!
